Ta’at Ke Wast’e Teri Khidmat Ke Wast’e, Ana Huwa Wujud Mein Apna Adum Se Hai

After being assigned to khidmat in Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, Karachi, a few years later I was summoned by Ameer al-Jamea Syedi Najmuddin Saheb QR to Surat.

Owing to tough financial circumstances, I had to borrow Qardan Hasana from several people during my stay in Surat. Although I was unsure about my return to Karachi, I believed I would have enough time to settle up the debts before heading back home.

Just when I had started to seek comfort in my confidence, I was informed that Burhanuddin Moula RA had instructed me to return to Karachi immediately after Imtehan, which were ending a few days later.

The thought of going back home to Karachi rushed a feeling of warmth, but my blood ran cold the very next moment thinking about the debt.

Not knowing where to go or what to do, I sought refuge in Qubbah Najmiyah, laid my head on the Qabr Mubarak of Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin RA and recited the following verse with tearful eyes.

واجهدني الفقر من مدة * فاعط العطايا يداً بيد

O Moula! Long have I been tested by hardships. Bestow upon me from your treasures without further delay.

Imtehan would end the next day, and I would leave the day after.

On the following day, Moulana RA presided over wada bethak and bestowed a ‘wada nu salam’ upon every talabat and khidmat guzar who attended Imtehaan.

Just like everyone else, I performed salam and Moulana RA handed me the ‘wada nu salam’.

At the time that I was leaving, Moulana RA turned towards Miyansaheb al-Shaikh Ibrahim Yamani Saheb and expressed a gesture which I could not comprehend.

Without any delay, Miyansaheb conveyed an envelope to Moulana RA, which Moulana RA then handed over to me with a broad smile.

Excited. Humbled. Overwhelmed. Puzzled. I performed shukr and left.

Expecting a letter or Misal Mubarak, I opened the other envelope.

Left dumbstruck, I fell on my knees. The envelope took in the precise amount I had needed to settle my debts.

How? I wondered with tears running down my cheeks. I relived what I had done the night before and got the answer.

TRIBUTE

Light-eyed, regular height, and a fair complexion; Janab Shk Ismail Bhai would never go unnoticed. He was a blend of both; discipline and tenderness. He would never forget to wear a smile, yet, his presence would be enough to straighten things at times. Given the status he held, some may think he would have been out of reach, however, he was always one of all.

Even in the final years of khidmat, when he was enduring severe medical difficulties, he always made a point to attend Aljamea. Every time when students would pay him a visit at his residence, he would always mention his desire to have the final breaths of his life in Aljamea. Such was his extraordinary love for a place that he served for fifty years.

Janab left us on 27th Rajab 1438 in Karachi at the time of Imtehan. Upon hearing the news of his end, Moulana Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS stated; “Ghani mohti raat lidi che”, “pachas waras lag khidmat kidi”.

As we celebrate fifty years of Aljamea’s campus in Karachi, we can perceive Janab’s presence among us. Someone of his sort can never be forgotten. Hence, he is not missed. Missed are those who leave.

Nahin Hai Fe’el Koi Inka Khali Hikmat Se, Agar Sukut Kare Ya Agar Kalam Kare

Le mot juste. A French term. Refers to the right words. Sometimes these words can change a person’s life.

In 1408H, Burhanuddin Moula RA was in Pakistan for Ashara Mubaraka, during which the renovation of Masakin Mohamadiyah, where a student of Al Jamea Tus Saifiyah stays through the year, was completed.

On the occasion, all students received the sharaf of qadambosi, and were required to proceed according to their classes.

I was studying in Darajah Tasea (9).

As I got up for qadambosi and got close to Moulana RA, a khidmat guzaar presented the araz“Moula darajah tasea shuru thai chhey Moula, ane darajah ma aikkaj talebe-ilm chhey”.

This image was taken just as Sheikh Mustafa Bhai arose for qadambosi, and the araz was made “Moula darajah tasea shuru thai chhey Moula, ane darajah ma aikkaj talebe-ilm chhey”. This image is the exclusive property of the contributor and Tazkerat, and may not be copied, printed or otherwise disseminated without permission.

One could evidently see a sparkle on Moula’s RA face. He RA laid his hand on my hands, assembled everyone around, and stated “Dekho aikkaj talebe ilm darajah ma padhi rahya chhey!”.

He RA then repeated it a couple of times and finally brushed a masallah on my face, quoting a Hadees Mubarak, which has changed my life since then: ‘Al mumino wahdahu jama’atun’ (Mumin alone is a group).

His RA words have enlightened thousands, and are still doing so.

Faiz’o Sakha’o Jood Ka Sheh Pe Hai Khaatma, Kehne Ko Gar Jahan Mein Hatim Ka Naam Hai

In the year 1420H, Burhanuddin Moula RA blessed Colombo with the azeem sharaf of hosting Ashara Mubarakah.

After Ashara Mubarakah concluded, during Moula’s RA extended stay, Madrasa e noor and Burhani Sarendib school got the sharaf of conducting an ilmi event in the presence of Moula RA.

Amidst the program, Moula RA asked if any one of the children can deliver Moulana Aliasghar’s AS shahadat, and I got up. Although it was a very brief and impromptu enunciation, I was completely unaware that Moula’s RA Mubarak Nazar was going to change my life.

Thereafter, some unbelievable events followed.

As Moula RA left the Madrasa hall, I was given the sharaf of mojri, and was told to come to daarul imarat, where Moula RA was residing.

It was lunch time when I went inside Moula’s RA room. Moula RA sat in the thal and directed Shehzadi Husaina Bensaheba DM: “tasbeeh laawo”. She brought one tasbeeh and Moula RA repeated precisely “mohta daana ni tasbi laawo”. Moula RA kissed the tasbeeh, called me closer and stated: “chum”.

I took the tasbeeh, kissed it and spoke a few words of shukr falteringly. I was completely awed. Then, I was given one lukmo from Moula’s RA jaman and I left.

The next day during bethak, Burhanuddin Moula RA called for my attendance. My mother immediately picked me from school and took me to Moula’s RA bethak. As I did salam to Moula RA, He RA turned to Aaliqadar Moula TUS who was on His RA side and stated: “aa farzand ne jamea ma daakhil karo”. I was shocked, and started to weep in gratitude.

In 1433H during my nikah I recalled the events of 1420H to Mufaddal Moula TUS and Moula TUS instantly replied “mane yaad che”.

We often hear the cries of ‘Moula aik nazar’ ‘aik nazar’. I exactly know why.

Qabr Main Aake Thaam Lengey Mujhe, Mujhko Bushra Mere Huzoor Se Hai

I was in the ninth standard (Darajah Tasea) in Al Jamea Tus Saifyah and imtehaan had just ended.

There used to be a qadambosi bethak after imtehaan each year in Surat. Everyone was required to sit class wise, perform qadambosi and return to their respective seats.

When I finished my qadambosi and was about to return, Burhanuddin Moula RA asked me: Su naam taru?”

I replied: “Moula Shabbir.”

Moulana RA asked: “Gaya saal mozey par gayo tho?”

I replied: “Jee Maula, gayo tho”.

Moulana RA got closer and studied me closely. Thereafter, I was back to where I was seated.

The brief experience moved me. I wept in gratitude for the opportunity of having exchanged a few words with Maulana RA.

When the bethak concluded, I went to perform zyarat of Do’aat in gratitude.

While my head rested on the turbat mubarak of Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin RA, I prayed: “aaje to Moulana ye maru naam puchu, koi waqt ehwo din bhi aawe ke Moulana maney naam si bulawe?”

The same night I had a dream where I saw myself standing with a friend as Moulana RA arrived. Moulana RA called out my name and said: “Shabbir yahaan aao” and then, “Shabbir, aao yahaan!”

When I proceeded, Moulana RA pronounced Shabbir, tu dua pare chey? Tilaawat Dua ni dua har roz parhje!”

[Yesterday on the 19th of August 2015, a noble Khidmat Guzaar of Al Jamea Tus Saifiyah passed away. He was always active, joyous, and full of life. It is utterly saddening and disheartening to admit the fact that he will no longer be amongst us. May Allah Ta’aala bless his soul and grant him Shafa’at of Panjatan Paak and Du’aat Mutlaqeen. Ameen]

Today we are positive that his desire is truly fulfilled as Moula often states: tamaro gale dum awse, to Mamlook Aal e Mohammed tamne olkhi laees”.

Hai Shouq Dast Bosi Liye Humko Is Liye, Ankho’n Ko Apne Mujib’e Taskee’n Hai Push’t Dast

In 1433, I went Mumbai to attend imtehaan. I hadn’t done moula’s qadambosi for a heart aching period of last ten years. During imtehaan we found out that mumineen and talabat ul ilm from Pakistan were bestowed upon the sharaf of qadambosi.

Everyday we used to make it to the bethak, but due to the high number of zyafats we would be left out. Soon imtehaan concluded, and we were instructed to leave Mumbai.

I was shattered. It came to a point that we even got qadambosi stickers but could not reach Moula RA. Eventually, we had to leave for Surat. On the day of our departure, we heard all who stayed back got their qadambosi done.

My eyes would not stop tearing. I went to do Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin’s RA ziyarat and took his wasila mubarak. Without a second thought, I got on a local train and hurried to Mumbai. Upon reaching Saifee Mahal there were about a hundred mumineen in front of me. I had no hope. Suddenly, one khidmat guzar inquired if there were any talabat ul ilm. I raised my neck high and shouted out to his call. The next moment I was in Moula’s RA hazrat aaliya.

As I advanced toward Moulana RA for qadambosi, Dr. Moiz Bs recognised me. I was performing qadambosi, not knowing what more to expect, and Dr. Moiz Bs pronounced to Moulana RA; “Jamea na Talabat che”. Hearing that, Moulana RA smiled at me.

Deep down in my heart, I was longing to submit an araz to Moulana RA for my sister’s health. I went to Mufaddal Moula TUS, rephrased my araz in my mind and performed qadambosi. Although the only word that passed through my lips was; “Moula!”, Mufaddal Moula TUS replied; “Khuda farzand ne shifa apey.”

Ascend towards Him, and you are not going to return saddened.

Shaah Ke Qadmo Tale Se Wo Khazane Nikle, Jholi Le Le Ke Salateen Uthane Nikle

I was seven, and Burhanuddin Moula RA was residing in Karachi at that time.

At one instance, Shehzada Malik’ul Ashtar Bs DM took me into Moulana’s RA ghurfa mubaraka while Moula RA was already there.

I was standing inside the room, confused. I couldn’t apprehend what to do, and suddenly I saw Moulana RA looking at me and directing Shahzada Sahib DM to place me near His qadam mubarak.

I sat near Moulana’s RA qadam mubarak with my hands and legs shivering. Moulana RA kept looking at me for sometime and said “salam karo” – to which I replied with a trembling voice “moula salam karta nai awartu”.

Moulana RA reacted with a wide tabassum to my reply, and taught me how to present a salam.

And then, Moula RA blessed me with words which changed my life, as he proclaimed “tu jamea jase?” and repeated it a couple of times.

Being small, I wasn’t able to connect the episode; Moulas RA qadam mubarak, salam and then Jamea. Today, I recall this account, and associate it with Moulana Mufaddal’s TUS words; “Taher Saifuddin aqa farmawta, bhai Burhanuddin ne Lao jau, ehna qadmo na niche dowlat che”.

I am fortunate to have acquired that ‘dowlat’; Al Jamea Tus Saifiyah.

Hain Jo Burhanedeen Shaahe Zamaa’n, Raaz Jaane Wahi Hai Har Dil ke

By the azeem ehsaan of Moulana TUS, all my children were fortunate to study in Al Jamea tus Saifiyah.

Above standard seven, one is required to appear in the final exams in front of Moulana TUS, in which a student is questioned by the four Umara ul Jamea by the raza mubarak of Aqa Moula TUS, though in some rare cases some students receive the sharaf to be questioned directly by Moulana TUS who listens to every answer.

It was my daughter’s turn to sit in front of Moulana Burhanuddin RA for her Shafahi Imtehaan. Just a few seconds before her name was called, I prayed: “Moula, maara paanch farzand ne jamea ni barakat mili chhey, aaj aap ehsaan farmawi ne mara farzand ne aap sawaal puchiye”

As Shehzada Saab DM was going to ask her a question, Moulana Muqaddas RA intervened and questioned her.

I could not believe what was happening. While she was answering, I prayed “Moula, aa nemat par aapnu shukur karu chu, aney em dua karu chu ke aap mara aa farzand ne dua ni araz karwanu farmawiye.” I hadn’t finished my words when Moulana Muqaddas RA pronounced “Dua ni araz karo”.

We often heard Him RA saying “mein jaanu chu tamara dilo ma ghani ummeedo che”.

I experienced it that day.
